Kristallnacht

To commemorate the 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht, The Mildred Washington Gallery at Dutchess Community College will be presenting KRISTALLNACHT, A Multi-Media Installation by Dean Goldberg.

Mr. Goldberg has created a series of photographs that tell a fictional story of a Jewish woman and a Nazi Soldier who meet on The Night of Broken Glass when Nazis broke store windows and vandalized Jewish Businesses all over Germany. The installation includes video, sound, and sculpture, that contextualize the narrative and raise questions about contemporary political unrest.

The show will open November 8th and will run until December 8th at Dutchess Community College in the Mildred Washington Gallery.

Greenspan-Trust-Handel Foundation Endowed Chair in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Dr. Werner Steger, will give the Keynote Address in the Greenspan Dining Room at 7:00 on November 8th. It will be followed by a Panel Discussion with Dr. Steger, Journalist, Rosemary Armao, and Mr. Goldberg.

The Opening Reception will be held in the Gallery from 5:30-7:00 on November 8th.

The show was curated by Gallery Director and Professor of Communications, Media Arts and Film, Dana Weidman.
