JAND Movie screening

Save the Date!

Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Award-winning documentary, My So-Called Enemy

Screening, followed by discussion with the film's director, Lisa Gossels

In July 2002, 22 Palestinian, Israeli and Palestinian Israeli teenage girls traveled to the United States to participate in a women's leadership program called Building Bridges for Peace. "My So-Called Enemy" is the story of 6 of the girls and how the experience of knowing their "enemies" as human beings meets with the realities of their lives at home in the Middle East over the next 7 years.

Israel is losing the war

NY Times Remember this photo?
Who is the "Palestinian"?
What is the Policeman doing?

On September 30, 2000, the picture on the left, captured by an AP photographer, was published in The New York Times and hundreds of other newspapers around the world. The caption read "An Israeli Policeman and a Palestinian on the Temple Mount." The story that the picture seemed to tell was that of a brutal, angry Israeli policeman wielding a baton, standing above a beaten Palestinian, drenched in his own blood. This photo initiated a groundswell of anti-Israel protests around the world.
