This past week, in Israel, one issue was consistently present on the Media: the confrontation between Orthodox and Progressive Jews over the Western Wall. What is the conflict about?

A number of years ago, a group of women, belonging to the progressive (Conservative and Reform) streams of Judaism, began gathering on Rosh Hodesh (the beginning of the Hebrew month) to pray at the Kotel (The Western Wall) in the women's section. Yet from the women's perspective, the attitude of the Orthodox rabbis was offensive and the confrontation became a confrontation over who owns the Wall rather than over how people pray.
