BLOGGING JEWISH IN DUTCHESS

Everybody knows that when you're building a house, you need to start with a foundation strong enough to support it. If you don' t, chances are the house will fall on you half-way through construction. A new year is much the same...in order to build a new, healthy, successful year we need to start on a strong foundation; a foundation of trust, a foundation of self-knowledge, a foundation of responsibility. And a strong new year is itself the foundation of a strong life, much in the same way that each day is the foundation for the next. While traditionally we look to Yom Kippur as a way to “clean the slate and start afresh”, I believe that our tradition does more than that.
